Peer Review Policy
All articles submitted to the Numeracy and Pedagogical Studies in Primary Education (NPPE) undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. The purpose of this review practice is to ensure that only high-quality, original, and methodologically sound research is published. Peer review represents an objective and integral component of scholarly communication, and it is conducted by qualified reviewers who are experts in the fields of numeracy education, pedagogy, and primary education.
The decision to publish an article in NPPE is based on two principal criteria: (1) the relevance and contribution of the manuscript to the advancement of mathematics and numeracy education at the primary level, and (2) the scientific merit, originality, and methodological rigor demonstrated in the research. All submitted manuscripts must align with the journal’s Focus and Scope and adhere to its publication ethics and formatting guidelines.
Each manuscript is first screened by the editorial team to ensure compliance with the journal’s focus, scope, and ethical standards. Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are then subjected to a similarity check using Turnitin. Submissions with a similarity index exceeding 30% will be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.
After passing the similarity check, manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent peer reviewers under a double-blind procedure. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript’s contribution to the field, conceptual clarity, methodological soundness, and quality of data interpretation. The review process for NPPE typically takes between six to eight weeks.
Following the peer review, authors receive constructive feedback and detailed evaluation reports. Manuscripts may be categorized as: (a) accepted without revision, (b) accepted with minor revision, (c) accepted with major revision, or (d) rejected. Authors with revision requests must resubmit the revised manuscript within four weeks. Extensions may be requested by emailing nppe@papanda.org.
Revised manuscripts will be reviewed again (if needed) or evaluated directly by the editors to ensure academic quality. The final decision rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board of NPPE.
The entire review and publication process is conducted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) to ensure transparency and alignment with COPE and DOAJ standards.
